Due to it’s importance, a listing on the ODP (also known as DMOZ) or Open Directory Project is considered important. The ODP provides directory listings not only to be Google search engines, but also for the directories at Yahoo, MSN, Bing, AOL, Lycos, Teoma, AskJeeves, Teoma, AltaVista, Netscape, HotBot and a host of ODP specialized directories.

It can take several months to update in the ODP as the ODP is managed by
users who are manage with work. You should focus on getting
listed in the ODP directory as soon as possible after your website is complete.

You can increase your chances for a listing if you can find a topic or category page.

An ODP Directory will review your submission.Submit your site to the
ODP twice
– once for the related topic-related page and once for any location-
specific page if your business is regional.Submit only once per page,
otherwise you will get rearranged to the end of the chain.
